Each year, Progressive Grocer Magazine recognizes women in the grocery industry with the Top Women in Grocery awards. This year, Kroger was honored to have 49 associates recognized across three categories: Senior-level Executives, Rising Stars and Store Managers. One of the Senior-level Executives recognized is Paaras Parker, director of HR for Kroger Technology & Digital (KTD).
Paaras joined the company in 2016 as head of Talent Development for 84.51° where she led learning & development, executive & leadership development, and talent strategy. In 2018, Paaras joined Kroger Digital to build the HR function, supporting a growing business unit before the company brought together existing Technology and Digital organizations.
As director of HR for KTD, Paaras leads a team of HR experts who support the nearly 2,000 full-time Technology & Digital associates across the U.S. and is responsible for the development and execution of all HR programs and people-related initiatives within KTD. Under her leadership, the HR team manages the entire associate lifecycle from recruitment to development to retention.
Paaras has a passion for people from prioritizing team uplifts to fostering a fun team environment and even creating bad joke Wednesdays. She has a passion for results, challenging the team to deliver the best possible experience for KTD associates as they work every day to meet the needs of our customers.
“I’ve been fortunate to work with and learn from some of the best female leaders throughout my career,” says Paaras. “I believe in creating an environment where associates feel valued and love to work. I have a passion for helping people develop in a way that is most meaningful to them and the companies that they work for.”
An active member of her community, Paaras also focuses on building community relationships and partnerships – especially those focused on creating a culture of inclusion. In 2018, Paaras partnered with the Cincinnati Regional Chamber to form Power Squad, a unique leadership program for women of color, and in 2019 graduated KTD’s first class of Power Squad women leaders.
The Progressive Grocer “Top Women in Grocery” awards are presented to extraordinary women who display exceptional achievements both in and out of the office. The award is devoted to showcasing the overall excellence and continued achievement among female movers and shakers in the North American retail food industry.
