Carletta is a perfect example of someone who lives Our Purpose, is hard working, dedicated, thankful and proud to be a member of the Kroger family. She came for a job and plans to stay for a career.

While visiting a local manufacturer here in Cincinnati called Nehemiah, Chariman and CEO Rodney McMullen learned about how they employ hard working, talented people who just need someone to believe in them and give them a chance.

A few years ago, our HR teams at the State Avenue and Springdale Dairy plants began collaborating with local agencies and non-profits to implement a similar program, and in 2017 New Beginnings was formed.

To date, we’ve hired more than 40 associates through New Beginnings and have a 93% retention rate among those in the program. Associates like Carletta Moore, who works as a filler for our State Avenue plant just a few miles from General Office.

She is uplifted by the opportunity to work for us and was excited to tell us that at 52 years old she was recently able to purchase a brand-new car, and is now moved in to her new home – the very first home she’s ever owned.

Doesn’t that just make you feel good?

Because of Carletta and so many other successes like her, we’re excited to expand New Beginnings to additional Manufacturing sites across the United States later this year and in to 2020.

We care about our associates’ futures. New Beginnings brings deserving people to our plants for work and we continue to support them and all associates through programs like Feed Your Future. Invest in yourself and let us help you with discounts at accredited colleges and tuition reimbursement for continuing education, including GED and trade certifications.

Thank you for sharing your story with us, Carletta, and best wishes in your new home.
